Minimal and quiet: the time in words instead of digits. For people who would rather read the time than check it.
- DisplayTime in words
- DevicesVenu · Vivoactive
kloq.ing designs original watch faces for Garmin Venu and Vivoactive. Every digit is drawn by hand, every pixel is made for AMOLED, and every face is written in Monkey C for Connect IQ.
Every preview shows the real time, just as it would look on your wrist right now.
Minimal and quiet: the time in words instead of digits. For people who would rather read the time than check it.
Big and clear: seven-segment digits on two lines, hours on top, minutes below. Readable at a glance, even mid-run.
Hugo’s glowing sibling: a custom faceted bitmap font with a gradient from yellow through orange to pink.
Every digit starts as an SVG grid: a seven-segment base, rounded outer corners, sharp inner corners. That becomes a bitmap font that stays crisp on the watch display.
Each face is tested in the Connect IQ simulator and then on a real watch, because you only know how a face works once you see it in daylight and on the move.
// NovaView.mc function onUpdate(dc as Dc) as Void { var clock = System.getClockTime(); var hh = clock.hour.format("%02d"); var mm = clock.min.format("%02d"); dc.setColor(Graphics.COLOR_BLACK, Graphics.COLOR_BLACK); dc.clear(); // hours on top, minutes below drawDigits(dc, hh, _font, cx, top); drawDigits(dc, mm, _font, cx, bottom); }
